Host This Weekend

Privacy & Data Policy

This policy describes current and planned data practices at hostthisweekend.com. Last updated August 24, 2026.

Browsing and messages

No registration, ticket sale, order, membership, or comment is required. The site does not ask for cards, passwords, addresses, or guest lists for ordinary articles. Email supplies your address, content, and attachments and is used to answer, examine editorial reports, address rights requests, consider relevant proposals, and retain necessary records. Do not send sensitive guest, identity, payment, or health data.

Automatic data

Hosting and protection tools may receive IP address, browser, device, operating system, referrer, pages, times, response details, and bot or error signals. These data deliver files, support uptime, investigate incidents, plan capacity, and defend the service. Cookies and similar tools may support security or preferences, but no advertising cookie program is live.

Analytics and planned ads

Google Analytics is not active. If added, this policy will state the live events, identifiers, Google’s role, retention, and required consent options. Host This Weekend plans ads, but no network currently serves them. Before launch, the actual provider, cookies, personalization, sharing, retention, and opt-outs will be explained and required vendor language added. A considered vendor is not a current partner.

Uses and disclosures

Information supports publishing, security, delivery, replies, corrections, fraud prevention, terms, and law. Hosting, email, backup, security, and maintenance providers may receive limited data. Valid process, credible threats, or a protected business transfer may require disclosure. The site does not sell its correspondence list for cash.

Legal basis, retention, transfers

Where European or UK rules apply, grounds may be legitimate interests in a secure publication, requested action, consent, or legal duty. Logs remain for proportionate operational periods. Messages last through the matter and longer for permission, corrections, disputes, or abuse records. Overseas vendors should use required transfer safeguards. Reasonable security cannot remove all risk.

Rights

Local law may provide confirmation, access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal, appeal, and regulator complaint. Covered U.S. residents may know categories, sources, purposes, and recipients and opt out of covered sale, sharing, targeted ads, or profiling without discrimination. Binding opt-out preference signals will be honored where relevant to an active practice.

Requests and updates

Send “Privacy request” to hello (at) hostthisweekend.com. Identity and agent authority may be verified. The general-audience site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information. Outside links have separate policies. The date will change as practices, providers, or law change.

Present collection categories

Identifiers such as IP and email address, Internet activity such as page requests and referrers, device characteristics, approximate region inferred by infrastructure, and correspondence content may pass through current systems. Sources are visitors, browsers and devices, and operating providers. Purposes include page delivery, security, debugging, replies, editorial accountability, and legal duties. The current site does not use these data to assemble advertising audiences.

Cookie and ad choices

Browser settings can show, clear, or reject cookies and related storage. Controls usually apply separately to each browser and device, and blocking necessary storage can impair a feature. If planned ads become active, opting out of personalization may still leave contextual advertising. Host This Weekend will present consent choices where required and will not treat a visitor’s failure to find a hidden setting as agreement to nonessential tracking.

Sensitive details and guest information

Do not send guest lists, children’s details, precise locations, account credentials, payment records, health information, government identifiers, or biometric information. The publication does not need them to answer an article question. It does not infer protected characteristics from a reader’s interest in a holiday or occasion. No current automated process makes a legal or comparably significant decision about a visitor.

Appeals and supervisory authorities

If an applicable request is limited or denied, Host This Weekend will explain the governing exception and available appeal. EEA and UK residents may lodge a complaint with the authority in the country where they live or work. A narrow record of request type, verification, decision, and completion date may be retained to demonstrate compliance, prevent fraud, and ensure deleted information is not casually restored.

Newsletters and invitations if offered

An email asking about a menu or decoration is not permission to send promotions. If a newsletter or event invitation list is introduced, enrollment will be separate and will describe the email provider, message type, and any tracking of delivery, opens, or clicks. Marketing emails will include an unsubscribe path. A limited suppression record may remain to prevent accidental resubscription, while unrelated correspondence may be retained under its own purpose.

Third-party pages and embeds

Hosting articles may link to shops, venues, ticket providers, calendars, manufacturers, safety agencies, or social platforms. Their operators control the information collected after a visitor leaves this site. If an outside video, map, or post is embedded directly and can transmit information on page load, Host This Weekend will describe the provider and obtain consent where necessary before enabling nonessential collection.

De-identified data and material revisions

Aggregate or de-identified statistics may be used for reliability, demand, and editorial planning when they no longer reasonably identify a visitor. The publication will not try to re-identify them. A material new use will be described rather than hidden under the original notice, and fresh consent will be obtained where required. There is no universally implemented response to every Do Not Track header; legally operative preference signals will be honored for practices to which they apply.
