Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (180 g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (5 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (1.5 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt (3 g)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (170 g)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar (150 g)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (67 g)
  • 1 large egg (50 g)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (10 g)
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (180 g)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries (130 g)
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate (130 g)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (6 g)

Instructions

  1. Cream to a dense, smooth base. Beat softened butter with both sugars for 2 minutes, until smooth and a shade lighter but not dramatically fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, scraping the bowl until the mixture looks cohesive rather than curdled.
  2. Fold in visible holiday pieces. Whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt separately. Mix them into the butter base on low until a few flour streaks remain. Fold in oats, cranberries, and white chocolate by hand so the add-ins stay distinct.
  3. Portion on cool pans. Scoop 2-tablespoon mounds onto parchment-lined pans, spacing them 2 inches apart. Turn exposed cranberries inward if they look dry, and press two or three reserved chocolate pieces into bare tops.
  4. Bake to soft centers. Bake at 350°F, one pan at a time, for 10 to 12 minutes. The edges should be golden and set while the center remains pale and slightly puffed.
  5. Set before moving. Leave cookies on the hot pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack. Cool fully before stacking so white chocolate does not mark neighboring cookies. Start the second batch on a cool pan.

Notes

  • Use the dish-specific texture cue at every stage instead of relying on minutes alone for Cranberry White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies.
  • Keep ingredient sizes close but naturally varied so cooking stays even and the final arrangement remains relaxed.
  • Store or make ahead exactly as described above, label containers with dates, and finish visible garnish shortly before serving.
